The mega event of AICS Literary Competitions was hosted by Amrita Vidyalayam, Mangaluru on August 3, 2019. Students representing various schools started registering their participation by 8:15 am. Over 32 schools with 13 participants from each school registered for the competitions. The participants, judges and guests were first taken for a refreshing breakfast, and at 9:00 am, the Inauguration Ceremony began in Amriteshwari Hall with Chief Guest Dr. Vasanth Kumar Perla, Senior Principal Mr. Ramachandra Bhat, and Vice Principal Mrs. Anupama Rao as the dignitaries on the dais.

The programme started off with Prayer and Lamp Lighting ceremony. The Chief Guest and the 14 judges for the day were introduced by Ranya to the gathering, and the Senior Principal welcomed the guests, judges and the audience with warm words. Shloka recited a poem by Amos Russel Wells titled ‘Recipe for a Good Letter’ to motivate the participants and help them to build a positive ambiance around them in order to creatively present their work in their respective competitions.

The Chief Guest Dr. Vasanth Kumar Perla then addressed the gathering, inspiring the young minds to think outside the box and bring their ideas and thoughts forward with confidence. He urged the students to concentrate only on giving their best, and not to worry about winning or losing. He also appreciated all the contestants for representing their schools and wished them luck.

The inauguration programme came to an end with the Head Girl of the school, Shraddha expressing her words of gratitude to all. Then Mrs. Shruthi Rao gave instructions to all the participants to move on to their respective venues. The inaugural programme was hosted by Shreya Bhat.

The judges were also escorted to their respective venues and the competitions began around 9:30 am. All the competitions were conducted simultaneously and came to an end around 12:30 pm. Thereafter lunch was served, and all the participants as well as their teachers assembled in Amriteshwari Hall for the valedictory ceremony.

The Chief Guest for the valedictory function, Dr. Malini Hebbar was escorted by Vice Principal Mrs. Anupama Rao to the dais. Poorvi introduced the guest and Mrs. Shruthi Rao welcomed the gathering.

The Chief Guest addressed the audience saying that although it is great to win, the greatest achievement is to be a participant. She said that we must get used to losing as well as it teaches us the best lessons we need in order to face challenges in life. She added that we need to read and inspire ourselves in order to always bring out the best in us.

Vice Principal Mrs. Anupama Rao expressed gratitude to the gathering and Ms. Rekha announced the names of the winners of the various competitions. The dignitaries on the dais felicitated the winners with medals and certificates. It was truly wonderful to see the young children receive awards for their excellence.

The ceremony came to an end with Shanthi Mantra and the AICS Literary Competition organised at Amrita Vidyalayam Mangaluru became another great event to be cherished in our memories. The valedictory ceremony was hosted by Sowmya.
