ANNUAL SPORTS MEET 2019

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Therefore, Amrita Vidyalayam, Mangaluru conducted the much awaited Annual Sports Day on November 16th, 2019 with great zeal and excitement in a frolicsome atmosphere.

Guard of Honour for Guest

The school band welcomed Chief Guest Mr. Vijay Kanchan, International Power Lifting Champion, Guest of Honour Mr. Jagadeesh Shetty, newly elected Corporator of Boloor ward, Correspondent Brahmacharini Mangalamrita Chaithanyaji, Principal Mr. Ramachandra Bhat and Vice-principal Mrs. Anupama Rao, and led them to the podium. Flags of different colours were fluttering all around the grounds and all the spectators were seated to cheer and encourage their children.

Declaring Meet Open and Events

The event formally commenced with a march past by the four Houses of the school, Amritamayi, Anandamayi, Chinmayi and Jyothirmayi. The Principal welcomed the dignitaries, parents and students. He briefly shared the inspiring story of Indian athlete P. T. Usha, fondly called the Golden Girl and Payyoli Express because of her amazing speed on the track. Her international achievements brought so much fame to our country. The athlete who brought laurels to our school in various school and state level competitions held the Torch and the Sports Secretary led the oath taking ceremony. The Chief Guest then declared the Annual Sports Meet open by releasing colourful balloons. Pigeons were let into the air by the Guest of Honour symbolizing the vibrant hopes of the students that were flying high. A welcome song and various drills were presented by the children leaving the parents and spectators spell bound. Many events such as 100 metres race, 400 metres race, 800 metres race, long jump, relay, etc. were conducted. The dignitaries felicitated the best march past and all the proficiency holders in various sports events held during the academic year 2018-19.

Sports Events

The program host Mrs. Shruthi Rao engaged all of us with her exceptional commentary. The children were thrilled to watch their parents participate enthusiastically in the game “Bombing the City”. Chief Guest Mr. Vijay Kanchan said how important it was to have a healthy body and mind for a successful life, and encouraged students to engage in sports activities along with academics.

Winners & Prize Distribution

The event came to an end successfully with vote of thanks by Vice-principal Mrs. Anupama Rao, leaving thrilling memories in the hearts of everyone present.
