The great celebration of Independence Day was held at our Amrita Vidyalayam on August 15th at 8:30 a.m. on the school premises. The Chief Guest, Mr. Raghuveer Pai was accompanied by school authorities in all the formal proceedings. All heads were held high with joy and pride while the flag hoisting was done with great devotion by our Correspondent, Mangalamrita Chaithanyaji.
The cultural programme included various events such as speeches in English and Hindi, patriotic dance, and a unique depiction of patriotism by the tiny tots of the school. The student orchestra was the highlight of the day. Vocalists singing the all-time favourite Vande Matharam accompanied by 5 musicians on the sitar, keyboard, guitar, tabla and rhythm pad stirred up strong patriotic emotions within our hearts.
In his speech, the chief guest said that, as citizens we need to focus more on fundamental duties rather than just individual rights, as only a citizen who fulfils his own duty deserves those rights. He added that Amrita Vidyalayam fosters such thoughtful citizens who will make our nation proud.
Correspondent Mangalamrita Chaithanyaji extended her wishes to everyone for Independence Day as well as Rakshabhandhan saying that these days truly portray the special line in our pledge, “All Indians are my brothers and sisters.” She also shared her views on Karma with parents and children, how the fruits of our actions come back to us, and how we should think good thoughts and do good actions in order to have good things happen in our own lives.
Vice Principal Mrs. Anupama Rao expressed her gratitude to the guest and the gathering, and the programme came to an end with the distribution of sweets.
